SAN JOSE — NBC Sports California announced Tuesday that Alan Hoshida will be the network’s new primary studio host for San Jose Sharks pre- and postgame shows.
Hoshida, a Gilroy native, replaces longtime host Brodie Brazil, whose contract was not renewed by NBC.
Hoshida appeared on Sharks pre- and postgame shows studio shows at times last season, contributing segments called ‘Checking the Current,’ which discussed topics from around the NHL.
“Alan is a skilled professional with a passion for hockey, who also happens to be a lifelong Sharks fan with deep roots in Northern California,” Matt Murphy, president & general manager of NBC Sports California and NBC Sports Bay Area, said in a statement. “We are pleased to welcome Alan back to have him join our talented cast of experts and insiders to deliver complete Sharks coverage surrounding games this season.”
Like Brazil last season, Hoshida will be joined by analysts Ted Ramey, Nick Nollenberger and former Sharks forward Mark Smith.
Former Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle will occasionally serve as an analyst, with former NHL forward Jamal Mayers, per NBC, contributing to select Sharks games. Mayers will also occasionally serve as a color analyst on the Sharks Audio Network alongside play-by-play voice Dan Rusanowsky.
NBC Sports California is scheduled to broadcast 76 of the Sharks’ 82 regular season games in 2024-25, the first coming on Oct. 12 when San Jose hosts the Anaheim Ducks.
Hoshida began his career as a sports intern with NBC Sports California and Bay Area and KGO-TV in 2010. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in broadcast journalism.

Previously, Hoshida spent three years as a sports reporter at KHON-TV in Honolulu, and several years as a sports director and sports anchor with TV stations in Washington and California. Hoshida also spent more than three years, beginning in 2012, in production positions with NBC Sports California and Bay Area.
Brazil announced on Sept. 5 that his final show with NBC Sports will be on Sept. 29 when the A’s play the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in their final game in “Oakland” uniforms. Brazil began working at the network in 2009.
