Nearly 60 shots were fired in an ambush Saturday afternoon that left one man dead and two others wounded in Little Village.
Devonsha Conquallin Collier, 35, and two other men, 39 and 42, were walking back to their vehicle in the 3100 block of South Saint Louis Avenue after buying car parts to work on the 42-year-old’s car around 3 p.m. Saturday. That’s when two gunmen — one dressed in all gray and armed with a rifle and another in all black and armed with a handgun — jumped from a silver four-door Honda and opened fire before fleeing in an unknown direction, according to Chicago police reports obtained by the Sun-Times.
Collier, of the Grand Boulevard neighborhood, was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital Collier, who was shot twice in the head, twice in the abdomen and three times in the back. was later pronounced dead at 3:54 a.m. on Sunday, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man was shot in the back, and another man, 42, suffered gunshot wounds to the back, arms and hip, police said. Both were listed in fair condition at Stroger Hospital.
Detectives recovered 33 rifle rounds and 24 nine-millimeter rounds from the scene, officials said.
No one was in custody as of Tuesday morning.
