Honoring veterans

The nonprofit Wreaths Across America will be holding an event honoring veterans on Dec. 13 at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga.

Wreaths Across America holds ceremonies during the holiday season at over 4,000 cemeteries throughout the U.S. to honor deceased veterans. They place live evergreen wreaths that are donated by the public on the veterans’ gravesites. In 2024, the nonprofit distributed more than 3 million wreaths on headstones across the U.S. The nonprofit was almost halfway to its goal of funding 1,100 wreaths for the Saratoga ceremony.

To donate in advance for $17 for the purchase of a wreath, visit https://tinyurl.com/Saratoga-WAA. Contact lisahoo28@gmail.com for special requests. The last day to place a wreath order is Nov. 29

Another way to support the nonprofit is to attend the ceremony at Madronia Cemetery at 11 a.m.
