One person is dead after an early morning traffic collision involving a semi and another vehicle early Friday on the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway on the Near South Side.
The wreck occurred at 12:09 a.m. in the southbound lanes at 26th Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and Illinois State Police.
One person, an occupant of one of the vehicles, was pronounced deceased on scene, state police said.
Lanes were reopened five hours later, about 5:20 a.m. after traffic was diverted to I-55 southbound.
