Originally charged with rape and sodomy of girl, Dublin man pleads to ‘offensive touching’

DUBLIN — A man who was originally charged with raping and forcibly sodomizing a teen girl has pleaded no contest to two much less serious misdemeanors in a plea deal that didn’t require him to serve jail time or register as a sex offender, court records show.

Parminder Pawar, 33, of Dublin, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of battery and false imprisonment with a stipulation that his criminal conduct amounted to “offensive touching,” according to court records. In exchange prosecutors, dropped several felony sex assault charges.

Pawar had been accused in 2024 of sexually abusing the teen a year earlier, after she went shopping with her mom at Walmart, where he worked as a tire technician. The girl’s mother reported that Pawar had exchanged numbers with her after calling her “cute.” Police alleged around 1:30 a.m. the following morning, the family discovered the girl vanished from her home after Pawar picked her up and took her to a hotel.

A person who identified themself as Pawar emailed this news organization last year, following Pawar’s release from pretrial detention, stating the description of the charges wasn’t accurate.

“I have dedicated myself to building a well-deserved and respectable life, and this article has completely shattered everything I have worked for … I am innocent and fighting this case with integrity,” according to the email.

The final sentence required Pawar to spend one year on court probation, pay a $220 fine and stay away from the girl, court records show. Walmart issued a statement in 2024 stating Pawar was no longer employed there.
