Packers’ Zaire Franklin fires back at Bears’ Luther Burden — ‘He quit’

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin heard what Bears receiver Luther Burden said Monday about making his rival want to quit.

Sunday, he had the last laugh.

“We see all the little weird stuff they be doing in the media and all the different stuff they be saying,” Franklin, who was traded from the Colts to the Packers in March, told Packers reporters after their 31-7 win at Lambeau Field. “You’ve got guys that have never really made a real play in this league talking about making somebody quit. That’s weird. We don’t do that.

“He quit today, by the day. He didn’t want to play any more.”

On Monday, Burden said that “we just want to beat [the Packers] real bad and make them quit.”

Late Sunday, Burden responded to a social-media post with a laughing emoji and a baseball cap, indicating that what Franklin said was false.

Notes

• One week after he was benched for fumbling, D’Andre Swift led the Bears with 43 rushing yards on nine carries and added four catches for 30. The Bears’ run game struggled otherwise. Backup running back Roschon Johnson, receiver Kalif Raymond and Burden combined to run 10 times for six yards. Burden had four carries for two yards.

• Bears rookie kick returner Zavion Thomas’ 61-yard return in the fourth quarter was his longest of the season.

• The Bears’ lone touchdown drive went 9 minutes, 10 seconds. They held the ball for 9:16 at the end of the game last week. Entering Sunday, there had been only eight instances, league-wide, of a nine-plus-minute drive this season.
