A pedestrian died Wednesday after being struck by two vehicles and dragged along a road in Arapahoe County, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The pedestrian, an unidentified 31-year-old man, was crossing East Florida Avenue near South Alton Street at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday when he was first hit, according to a state patrol news release.
The driver of a black Land Rover Discovery SUV traveling west on Florida hit the man in the left lane, throwing him into the right lane, state patrol officials said in the release. That’s when a second vehicle collided with the pedestrian and dragged him an unknown distance.
The driver of the SUV stopped, but the second driver left the scene, according to the state patrol.
Investigators said the pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. He will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
The man was not crossing the street in a designated crosswalk at the time of the crash, state patrol officials said.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Colorado State Patrol investigators at 303-239-4501 and reference case number VC250356.
