A person was injured during a struggle over a gun with Chicago police officers early Saturday in Fuller Park on the South Side.
Officers assigned to the 9th District Tactical Team responded to a call of a large gathering in the 5300 block of South Princeton Avenue around 12:30 a.m. and attempted to disperse a crowd, Chicago police said.
While attempting to break up the crowd, officers stopped a person for possible possession of a gun, police said. During a brief physical struggle, the person’s gun discharged and they were shot in the thigh.
Officers called for an ambulance and the person was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, police said.
The officers did not fire their weapons and no other injuries were reported, police said.
The Investigative Response Team is working the case.
