‘Dances and Dreams’
After his recital of Chopin and Schubert last year, concert pianist Pavel Kolesnikov is returning to the Steinway Society stage Oct. 18 with a program of “Dances and Dreams.”
Kolesnikov will once again play works by Chopin, as well as by Duphly and Rameau. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at DeAnza College. A meet-the-artist opportunity follows the concert.
Tickets are $53-$78 at www.steinwaysociety.com. Student rush at the door is $20.
The concert can be livestreamed for $26.75 per household. All concerts are recorded live and made available for unlimited listens for 48 hours.
Imagination Library
The Santa Clara County Library District, which includes the Cupertino Library, is bringing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to young readers in the county. This worldwide effort mails free, high-quality, age-appropriate books to children under age 5 every month, with a goal of sparking a lifetime love of reading.
“Building a home library, reading to children starting at birth, and introducing families to their public library are important ways to help our littlest learners become successful readers,” said County Librarian Jennifer Weeks in a release.
All children under age 5 living in Santa Clara County are invited to be part of the free program. Imagination Library titles are available in English or Spanish. Books arrive approximately eight to 12 weeks after registration, so those who sign up in October will receive their first books in time for the winter holidays. Children will continue to receive a new book every month until their fifth birthday.
To participate, families can sign up their children ages 0-5 at sccld.org/imaginationlibrary.
