Police are warning residents after three women were sexually assaulted and robbed in Woodlawn.
The most recent assault occurred about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 6400 block of South Drexel Avenue, police said. The others occurred Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Ingleside Avenue and Oct. 17 at 12:07 a.m., also in the 6400 block of South Ingleside Avenue.
In each of the assaults, the women arranged to meet with a man using an online dating app. When the women arrived at the location, they met with the man who led them into an apartment, police said. Once inside, the man displayed a handgun, sexually assaulted the women and took their property. He also used the victims’ cellphones to transfer money from their bank accounts, police said.
The man is described as unshaven, with a short hairstyle and a light complexion, police said. He stands between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 and is between the ages of 28 and 33.
Police advise residents to always be aware of their surroundings, immediately report suspicious activity and remain calm if confronted by an assailant.
