One person died in a residential fire in San Francisco’s Richmond District on Friday afternoon, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
The fire broke out at about 2:10 p.m. at a residence with a peaked roof in the 500 block of 26th Avenue, just across the street from San Francisco Fire Station 14, in the city’s Little Russia neighborhood.
A firefighter suffered a minor hand injury in the response.
Flames were spreading from the rear of the residence’s second story to its third and to an adjacent residence when firefighters arrived and began their attack.
Firefighters found one person during their search of the residence who had died from injuries related to the fire, according to the fire department.
The fire was contained in about 20 minutes. The cause was under investigation as of Saturday.
