SAN JOSE — A suspect has been arrested and another is being sought in a 2021 shooting in the city’s Cadillac-Winchester neighborhood that killed a man and wounded a woman, police said Wednesday.

The San Jose Police Department announced that detectives and other officers traveled to Hollister on Tuesday to arrest 35-year-old Christopher Espinoza Jr. in connection with the Sept. 10, 2021, shooting death of Arturo Guizar, a 40-year-old San Jose resident.
Police say the shooting was reported around 11:30 p.m. that night near Cadillac Drive and Winchester Boulevard, and that responding officers found two people injured by gunfire. A wounded woman was taken to a hospital and survived, but Guizar died from his injuries.

Detectives suspected early on that the shooting was motivated by gang tensions but police did not elaborate further Wednesday.
The investigation eventually identified Espinoza and a second suspect, 22-year-old Isaiah Sotelo, for whom an arrest warrant has been issued. Police said Sotelo “is currently outstanding and is believed to hiding in Mexico.”
Espinoza is being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Main Jail where he was booked on suspicion of murder, according to jail records.
