SAN JOSE – A pedestrian died Friday of injuries she suffered in a traffic collision nearly a week earlier in San Jose, according to authorities.
The crash was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m. on June 28 at the intersection of West Taylor and Spring streets, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release.
The woman was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and later stabilized.
The driver, identified only as a man, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Hernandez said an initial investigation revealed the man was driving a gray 2022 Tesla Model X westbound on West Taylor Street when he hit the woman, who was walking southbound in a crosswalk at the time.
On Monday, police received word the woman had died of her injuries Friday. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release her identity once it is confirmed and her next of kin is notified.
The death marked the city’s 14th traffic fatality of 2025. Half of those cases have involved pedestrians. Police had investigated 23 roadway deaths at this time last year.
