Santa Fe Drive in Denver to close for 5 days for railroad track replacement

Santa Fe Drive in the Baker neighborhood will be closed for five days next week so the nearby railroad tracks can be repaired.

The roadway will be closed at Cedar Avenue from 4 a.m. Nov. 10 to 5 p.m. Nov. 14. The Monday through Friday closure is just north of busy Alameda Avenue.

Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure officials advised drivers to avoid the area. Drivers moving north along Santa Fe will be able to turn onto Alameda Avenue, but may encounter heavy traffic. The official detour will take motorists west on Alameda Avenue to Federal Boulevard.

Motorists traveling on Interstate 25 will also want to avoid exiting onto Alameda Avenue during the closure, the officials said.

Drivers trying to reach locations on Santa Fe Drive north of Alameda will be allowed to continue on the street until the full closure at Cedar Avenue.

The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway asked for the closure for public safety so that it can repair the train tracks on Santa Fe Drive.
