History Day winners
Dozens of Saratoga High School students were recognized for their performance at the South Bay Peninsula History Day competition in March.
For the competition, which took place at Saratoga High, 243 students from San Mateo and Santa Clara counties used various media to document a period or moment in history. Competitors from 14 schools created 117 entries.
Skyler Mao, a junior at Saratoga High, was among 43 Saratoga High students who advanced to the state level of the competition for his paper, “A Turning Point in Nuclear History: Exploring the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, Security, Assurances, and the Nonproliferation Norm.” Mao and other champions will compete at the state level at Sacramento State University on April 20.
Say ‘oui’ to French market
The Saratoga French Cultural Preschool and Kindergarten and Alliance Francaise Silicon Valley will be hosting a French market and carnival at Westhope Presbyterian Church at 12850 Saratoga Ave.
The event, set for April 19, 4-9:30 p.m., and April 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., will feature wine and cheese, music, face painting, pony rides, music classes and jumping houses.
