Michelin star tribute dinner
The Plumed Horse in Saratoga Village is hosting a tribute dinner in honor of French chef and author Jacques Pépin on Nov. 14.
Pépin is known for launching several award-winning restaurants in France and the U.S. and for writing several cookbooks as a celebrity chef. Chef Peter Armellino leads The Plumed Horse in earning and maintaining its Michelin star every year. He will be working with guest chef Jared Gallagher, who has trained in restaurants in Paris and London and earned his own Michelin stars.
They will host a reception with champagne and seasonal hors d’oeuvres before moving onto a five-course dinner with wine pairings that pay homage to Pépin’s influence on the culinary world. The dinner will blend classic French techniques with modern California cuisine.
Tickets are $425 per person at https://bit.ly/3Xb54Vf; 15 percent of the profits will be donated to the Jacques Pépin Foundation to help advance its mission in culinary education and workforce training.
The one-night only event is part of the foundation’s “90 for 90 Dinners” series, and space is limited to 24 people.
Movie screening
The Saratoga Foothill Club is screening a movie about winemaking in the Santa Cruz Mountains on Nov. 16.
It is part of the Public Event Series. Each year, the club hosts events featuring local renowned speakers and performing artists. Organizers will be screening “Eden.” by Christopher McGilvray, an award-winning documentary into the legacy and craftsmanship of this local industry. It will be followed by a Q&A session with the director and other special guests.
The screening will take place at the Saratoga Foothill Club at 20399 Park Place. For more information, visit saratogafoothillclub.org/public-events.
