A PRISON boss has been suspended after being caught romping in the jail with a nurse.

Colleagues found the married chief having sex with the woman while both were on duty at Low Moss, in Bishopbriggs near Glasgow.

The married jail chief and his female lover “couldn’t keep their hands off each other” at work, prison insiders have revealed.

But their secret relationship was exposed when colleagues caught them having sex in a room at HMP Low Moss.

The male boss, who we are not naming, is understood to have been suspended and marched off the prison grounds after the tryst with a jail nurse last week.

He is believed to hold a senior position after working at the tough nick for several years.

It is believed an investigation is under way.

Last night a source told how the romp has set tongues wagging — even among prisoners.

The insider revealed: “The pair were involved in some secret relationship but couldn’t keep their hands off each other at work.

“They got caught having sex in a room in the jail and were both sent home. Everyone is talking about it — and even prisoners have heard about it.

“It is embarrassing that a senior member of staff would behave like this.

“Although the nurse works in the prison, she is employed by the NHS so they have also been involved in the investigation. No one can quite believe what has happened.”

Last night bosses said they demanded the “highest standards of behaviour” from staff.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesman added: “It would be inappropriate to comment further.”

Regarding the nurse, an NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde spokesman confirmed: “Any allegation regarding the conduct of our staff will be fully investigated and, where necessary, appropriate action taken.”

Around 900 lags locked up in Low Moss include Martyn Fitzsimmons — caged for ten years in 2018 for his role in a £200million drugs, guns, abduction and torture gang.

We told last August how gangland killer Christopher Hughes, 35, was battered in the exercise yard of the jail in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow.

Crafty cons previously stole a widescreen TV from an exercise area and replaced it with a bit of cardboard.

They transferred the 42in screen to a cell and played Xbox games for a fortnight before guards rumbled them.
