BALTIMORE — The series-opening game between the Cubs and Orioles started in a rain delay Tuesday night.
Originally scheduled for a 5:35 p.m. Central first pitch, fans were informed via a scoreboard message that a conversation between Major League Baseball and the National Weather Service led to the decision to start the game in a weather delay.
A 6:30 p.m. Central first pitch was announced.
The Cubs sat through multiple delays during their weekend series with the Cardinals, including one caused by fog blanketing Wrigley Field on Saturday.
Slamming down and soaring up doesn’t make for the ideal landing to a flight. Nor does it make for the ideal pace of a baseball season. But the Cubs insist they’re built to handle the whiplash that has been their 2026 campaign so far.
