Footage of the chaos caught on social media has left viewers stunned as dozens of students can be seen sprinting down the avenues of the mall past shops and customers.

Students and mall staff also stood off against each other in a tussle and one clip shows a security guard pulling one child to the floor.

Wintess Janey Chandler called 999 after hearing the screaming and told Metro she was in Boots when she heard young people running outside.

She said: “I had no idea what it was and everyone around me looked scared. I left the shop as I wanted to head to my car to leave as I thought it might be a shooter or some kind of attack.

“When I went outside I saw loads of schoolchildren and it appeared to be a fight between a few boys with loads of people around filming and watching.

“A saw a few boys get separated and dragged away by security. But all the kids just ran more and started screaming and fighting elsewhere. It was absolute carnage.”

The 36-year-old said the chaos was “really scary” and the “rude and aggressive children” were swearing at security guards.

As the children ran about. the Boots she was in was locked up, with other stores in the supermarket also locking their staff and patrons inside.

After police arrived, Janey said most of the children dispersed but some trouble continued.

Thames Valley Police said: “A dispersal order is in place in central Milton Keynes following an incident of antisocial behaviour involving around 300 children.

“The order is in place until midnight.

“Our officers continue to be out and about following the disorder earlier today.

“They will continue to be in the area this evening and we will be conducting high visibility patrols.”
