Awards season has begun for the back-to-back World Series champions.
Shohei Ohtani won his fourth Silver Slugger award as the top offensive performer at his position and the Dodgers won the National League Team of the Year award for the second consecutive season.
Ohtani (also the favorite to win the National League MVP award next week) beat out Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber to win the Silver Slugger at DH.
In his second season with the Dodgers, Ohtani hit .282, set a new Dodgers franchise record with 55 home runs and led the majors with 146 runs scored, the most by any Dodgers player in the modern era (since 1900). For the third consecutive season, Ohtani led his league (the American League with the Angels and the National League with the Dodgers) in slugging percentage (.622), OPS (1.014) and total bases (380).
Ohtani joins David Ortiz (seven), Edgar Martinez (four) and Paul Molitor (four) as the only players to win at least four Silver Slugger awards at DH.
The Dodgers took the team award after leading the NL in runs (825), home runs (244), walks (580), OPS (.768) and total bases (2,415).
Silver Slugger awards are determined by a vote of MLB managers and coaches.
