Shooting in San Pablo kills one, injures another

SAN PABLO — One man died and another remained in critical condition Tuesday following gunfire Monday night, police said.

Authorities did not identify the 36-year-old dead man immediately, pending notification of relatives. They said he was a Richmond resident.

In a statement, San Pablo police spokesperson Peggy Chou said officers responded about 9:05 p.m. to the 1400 block of Rumrill Boulevard for reports of a shooting. Two men were down when officers arrived, police said.

One of the men died at the scene despite police rescue attempts. The other man, who police said also is a 36-year-old Richmond resident, went by ambulance to a hospital.

Police have not made any arrests and did not publicly identify any suspects. Police did not disclose any other details of the incident or investigation.

The homicide investigation is the second one by San Pablo police this year. A shooting in March killed a 26-year-old man.
