Police are investigating a bizarre shooting that left a man and woman critically hurt while traveling in car Wednesday night in Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The incident happened around 8 p.m. in the 3500 block of South Richmond Street when the 39-year-old passenger shot the woman, 18, as she drove, Chicago police said.
The woman, wounded in the abdomen, veered off of the road after the shooting, police said. The man was also shot twice but it was not clear who shot him.
Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where they were listed in critical condition, officials said.
The man was placed in custody and a weapon was recovered.
Charges have not been announced.
