Sky sign forward Jessika Carter to training camp contract

The Sky picked up former Aces forward Jessika Carter on Thursday, signing her to a training camp contract.

Carter, 25, was drafted by the Liberty in the second round last year and was waived before playing a game for them. She signed with the Aces and played two games as a reserve. She has been playing for a pro team in Poland.

At 6-foot-5, she was a dominant defender at Mississippi State and left as the program’s all-time leader in games played. She was in the top seven in Bulldogs history in scoring, blocks and rebounds, as well.

The Sky picked up four new players in the draft Monday, though it’s unclear if top pick Ajsa Sivka will remain in Slovenia rather than join the team this season. They introduced the other draft picks, first-rounder Hailey Van Lith, second-rounder Maddy Westbeld and third-rounder Aicha Coulibaly on Thursday.

The Sky open training camp April 27.
