MORGAN HILL – A pair of East Bay men was arrested on suspicion of criminal conspiracy and other crimes following a car chase Monday in Morgan Hill, police said.
Just before 3 a.m., officers encountered a blue Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat on East Dunne Avenue, according to the Morgan Hill Police Department. The car, police added, did not have a license plate and was heading toward Sorrel Way.
The driver did not stop when officers tried to pull him over, police said.
Officers pursued the Dodge and used “stop sticks” to puncture the tires of the car as it got onto northbound Highway 101.
The chase continued onto northbound Highway 85, police said. The Dodge, which was traveling on severely damaged wheels at that point, then exited at Santa Teresa Boulevard in San Jose.
Police said officers finally managed to bring the car to a stop as it headed back onto the highway in the wrong direction.
The driver, an Oakland man, and his passenger, an Antioch man, abandoned the Dodge, police said. Officers quickly caught the driver, and the passenger was taken into custody with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol and the San Jose Police Department.
Police said a search of the car turned up tools commonly used in vehicle burglaries and thefts.
Officers determined the Dodge was stolen in Oakland in November 2024, police said, adding that the driver was wanted for robbery and the passenger for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police said both men were arrested on suspicion of criminal conspiracy, evading, possession of burglary tools and possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as their outstanding warrants.
Anyone with information related to the case can contact Morgan Hill police Detective Sgt. Sean Bayard at 408-607-3032 or the tip line at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
