Stockton police late Saturday night released more details about a shooting by an officer that critically injured a robbery suspect a day earlier.
Officers initially responded around 9 p.m. Friday to a report of an armed robbery of a business in the 5700 block of Pacific Avenue and learned that someone wore a ski mask and presented a handgun while demanding money, police said.
The person fled with money and officers responding to the area found him in the 400 block of West Longview Avenue, about a block north of the business that was robbed, according to police.

Investigators found 28-year-old Javion Holmes, who allegedly refused to comply with officers’ orders and prompted one officer to fire a less-lethal bean bag shotgun. A second officer used a firearm that caused Holmes to fall to the ground. He was eventually found to have been struck at least once by gunfire.
Stockton police said the officers involved in the shooting are on administrative leave, as is standard policy.
