SUNNYVALE — Five people were arrested in connection with a recent jewelry store robbery and a police pursuit in a stolen car.
The arrests occurred July 23, days after a jewelry store was robbed by several suspects on El Camino Real. After that incident and other similar robberies, police say they were on the lookout for suspicious activity and had asked nearby business owners to stay vigilant too.
The suspects were seen in two stolen cars near Lawrence Expressway and Highway 101, police said. One of the cars led police on a short pursuit, and its occupants then exited the cars and fled. They were arrested near Fremont Avenue and Rembrandt Drive.
All five men are either from San Francisco or Oakland, police said. Authorities say they’re “investigating whether the incident is connected to other recent jewelry store robberies in the area.”
Anyone with information regarding this incident can call a Sunnyvale police detective at 408-730-7110.
