Teen girl wounded in accidental Oakland neighborhood shooting

A teen was recovering in fair condition after she was apparently accidentally wounded when a gun discharged early Tuesday in the Oakland neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot around 3:15 a.m. inside a building in the 4100 block of South Ellis Avenue and found a girl between 15 and 17 years old shot near her right eye, Chicago police said.

She was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where she was in fair condition, police said.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.
