A 1-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man were critically injured in a South Shore residential fire Saturday night, Chicago police said.
Officers and Chicago firefighters responded to the accidental fire around 6:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Merrill Avenue, according to police.
Three people were injured. The 1-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital; the man in critical condition and a 26-year-old woman who suffered minor burns were both taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
The Chicago Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
