Hugo Alho and his colleagues at Reach Academy Trust, Feltham, West London, were presented with the trophy by five-times Paralympic gold medal swimmer Ellie Simmonds, 29.
Hugo, who has worked at the school for seven years, said: “We make everything from scratch, which means we can hide all the nutrition the kids need within the meals.
“Often parents ask me for the recipes, or they’ll tell us they can’t believe their kid ate the dish because they wouldn’t touch it at home.”
Ellie, who won two Paralympic gold medals aged 13 in 2008 knows how a healthy diet can fuel success.
She said: “It’s been wonderful to present the award. I’ve been aware of how important food is my whole life because it was my fuel to get to the Paralympics.”
On the day Ellie visited Reach Academy Trust, 1,000-plus students were tucking into peri peri chicken, rice with sweetcorn and coleslaw.
She said: “To see such a perfectly balanced plate like this in a school is incredible.”
The Sun helped Jamie to launch the Good School Food Awards last year.
He said: “Hugo and his team go the extra mile to make sure kids are fed with healthy food that sets them up for learning.
“Congratulations to the whole team.”
