Robert Fenwick tragically died after fighting for his life in hospital
Firefighters responded to calls and arrived at the scene of a “reported gas explosion” shortly after 10.30am.
Mr Fenwick’s devastated sister-in-law Emma Fenwick confirmed his passing Facebook.
She said he “passed away peacefully in hospital with his family around him” on Friday.
The heartbroken relative said his family would now take time to grieve, “especially considering his two young children and mother, who now need to come to terms with his passing”.
Two others were left with minor injuries after the blast.
Cops have since launched a joint investigation into the explosion but there have been no updates.
Terrified neighbours told the BBC the blast sounded like “an aircraft had landed on a building”.
LFRS said previously: “At 10:31 on 01 September, eight fire engines from Preston, Bamber Bridge, Penwortham, Longridge, Blackburn, Clitheroe, Leyland, Hyndburn and other specialist appliances including Urban Search and Rescue units, attended a reported gas explosion on Wheatley Drive, Longridge.
“Crews are likely to remain in attendance for some hours. Please avoid the area.”
