Trump approves $2,800,000,000 weapons sale for Israel

The Trump administration has agreed to send a $2.8 billion weapons package to Israel after Joe Biden previously stopped the deliveries.
40,000 bombs weighing 2,000 pounds are set to be sent to Israel, according to a source close to the administration.
After the war broke out in Gaza, former President Biden stopped the shipments of the bombs which were used across Palestine by Israeli forces.
When Trump retook office in January 2025, he resumed the shipments.
Analysis has found that the Israeli military has been using US-made bombs in Gaza, prompting an outcry to halt the shipments.

The US government has continued to support Israel’s government in their ongoing conflict in Palestine.
In 2024, when Biden was in office, the government approved thousands more bombs to be sent to Israel on the same day an Israeli airstrike killed one of its citizens.
Some of the weapons being sent this year include 20,000 MK-84s and 20,000 BLU-117s.
MK-84s are general-purpose bombs, first deployed in the Vietnam War and nicknamed ‘Hammer’ because of how destructive they are.
BLU-177s are a variant of the MK-84s which have a thermal coating, making it easier to store on naval vessels.

In August, Israel rejected Trump’s 15-point plan for peace in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Prime Minister told a cabinet meeting on Sunday that the military will ‘continue to thwart threats against our forces and our citizens’.
The US President’s Board of Peace claimed last month it had reached an agreement for the ‘complete disarmament’ of Hamas, as well as other armed groups in Gaza.
But Hamas insisted it would not hand over its heavy weapons until Israel ended ‘all forms of aggression’ and withdrew its forces from Gaza.
Israel has continued to strike Gaza since agreeing to an initial ceasefire in the territory last October.
