Two-alarm fire burns in East Oakland hills

OAKLAND — A two-alarm fire was burning Thursday afternoon in the East Oakland hills.

Authorities said the fire, which erupted about 1:05 p.m. in the 7500 block of Hansom Drive had burned mostly vegetation.

It was still burning as of 1:50 p.m.

The area is near the Leona Canyon Regional Open Space Reserve.

It was not immediately known if any evacuations had been ordered. No injuries had been reported.

Oakland firefighters were the first to respond and the East Bay Regional Park District and Cal Fire were assisting, including with air units.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
