U.S. Army rep: Helicopters not hit by fireworks during Bears-Seahawks flyover (VIDEO)

SEATTLE — Videos of Black Hawk helicopters flying over Lumen Field on Monday before the Bears’ game against the Seahawks caused alarm because of what looked like a close call between the aircraft and stadium fireworks, but a representative from the U.S. Army said there was no issue during the flyover.

The four helicopters flew over the field during the national anthem, and fireworks shot out of the north end zone as they did.

Lt. Col. Cynthia Holuta from nearby Joint Base Louis-McChord told KOMO, the ABC affiliate in Seattle, “We can confirm that no fireworks struck the aircraft, no aircraft were damaged, and no members of the aircrew were injured,” Holuta said.

Here’s a video of the scene:

There was no indication in real-time of any danger or incident at Lumen Field, and the game proceeded on time. The Bears stormed to a 34-17 win over the defending champions for arguably their most impressive win of coach Ben Johnson’s tenure.
