Bears coach Ben Johnson joked Sunday that he didn’t know what to say after another comeback win. After all, the Bears had rallied back to win for a second week in a row, scoring two touchdowns in the last four minutes Sunday to beat the Giants, 24-20.
“I feel like I’m on repeat each and every week right now,” he told his locker room Sunday at Soldier Field. “I got nothing new to say to you guys. Did you even [freaking] waver for a second … we had them right where we wanted them.”
He gave out game balls to two players: cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who had two sacks and a forced fumble, and quarterback Caleb Williams, whose 17-yard scramble was the deciding score.
“He’s got ice in his veins now,” Johnson said of Williams. “If you can’t believe it now, you just wait. The best is yet to come.”
Williams thanked his teammates.
“We needed each other,” he said. “We always come through, every single time.”
Gardner-Johnson has three sacks in two games as a Bear.

The Bears are 6-3 — though time, and a much tougher second-half schedule, will tell if they’re good. There’s no doubting Caleb Williams qualifies as elite in the final few minutes, even as he continues to struggle, frustratingly so, earlier in games.

These Bears just don’t completely crumble. How’s that for damning them with faint praise?
