West Alameda Avenue will be closed all weekend at South Platte River Bridge in Denver

West Alameda Avenue will be closed from Friday evening to Monday morning at the South Platte River Bridge as crews conduct demolition work.

The closure — which will be in effect from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday — will impact Alameda between Kalamath and Lipan streets, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The ramp from southbound Interstate 25 to Alameda will also be closed during the same period.

Built in 1911, the bridge over the South Platte River is the oldest bridge on the state highway system, CDOT says.

The current project began in January 2023 and is expected to be completed next spring.
