Government offices – Los Angeles city and county and federal – are normally closed for Indigenous Peoples Day or Columbus Day holiday.
The city and county of Los Angeles observe, as of 2017, Indigenous Peoples Day in October.
The federal government observes Columbus Day.
The state of California does not observe Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day as a state holiday (www.sos.ca.gov/state-holidays).
Los Angeles Unified School District schools are open on Monday (achieve.lausd.net/calendar). For other Los Angeles County school districts, check your local district’s instructional 2025-2026 calendar for holidays.
