Government offices — Los Angeles city and county, national and state — courts and libraries are normally closed for a federal holiday.
Here is a sampling of services that are closed or have an altered schedule on Friday, July 4:
Transit: Metro buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a Sunday schedule on July 4. There are several bus lines on detour on July 4 for holiday events (click on the Learn More tab). www.metro.net
Trash: Pickup is postponed by one day beginning on Friday, July 4, for Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment customers. If your weekly collection is on Friday, it will be picked up on Saturday (July 5). 800-773-2489.
