New footage showing Donald Trump appearing to doze off during a White House meeting about reproductive health has gone viral.

Footage of the president with his eyes closed in the Oval Office, as speakers around him continued their remarks, has sparked concern for the nation’s oldest-ever elected President.

‘Our nation’s Commander-in-Sleep,’ the Democrats’ account wrote in response to the footage.

The White House has since responded aggressively to concerns that Trump may have dozed off.

After a Reuters reporter shared the image without suggesting Trump was asleep, Rapid Response 47 – Trump’s account to tackle ‘fake news’ – quickly replied.

‘He was blinking, you absolute moron,’ it said.

Trump has previously explained away worries about his focus in important moments, saying he likes to close his eyes because it is ‘very relaxing’.

In December, the president bragged about his intelligence before appearing to doze off in another meeting.

In his first year back in office, Trump fell asleep a few times during conferences.

In July 2025, he was seen struggling to stay awake while Medicare administrator Dr Mehmet Oz began talking about healthcare.

And in May last year, he fell asleep with his mouth open as a star witness took the stand during his hush money trial.

Trump is notably tight-lipped about his health, the subject of both speculation and concern both in his first and second terms.

In April, however, he made a rare admission about his well-being on television after taking jabs at President Joe Biden, who he said ‘couldn’t walk up the stairs’.

‘Forget about down, he couldn’t walk up a flight. He was falling all over the place. I have to be careful because if I do trip or fall, it’s gonna be the biggest…

‘That’s why when I get out of those planes, I walk nice and slowly. I’m not looking to set any speed records,’ he said.

Biden notably tripped on the stairs up to the Air Force One presidential jet soon into his presidency, fell over on stage once, and stumbled or briefly lost his footing on stairs on around three other occasions in public.

Trump was filmed in July last year stumbling on the stairs up to Air Force One and has struggled with walking in a straight line during several public appearances.
