An email from Jeffrey Epstein’s brother – which mentions Donald Trump ‘blowing Bubba’ – has sparked a lot of speculation online.
The latest cache of emails relating to the paedophile financier – more than 2,000 pages – have been released.
The US president has already slammed them, and the contents, as a ‘hoax’ and blamed the Democrats for the debacle.
They reveal Epstein’s connections with top global figures, but there is one name that people online cannot stop talking about.
The email sent by his brother, Mark Epstein, has gone viral after he asked for photos of ‘Trump blowing Bubba’, a nickname which was given to Bill Clinton while he was president.
Questions are now being asked about the identity of ‘Bubba’ and if the name does refer to the 42nd US president. Here’s what we know.
Who is Bubba?
‘Bubba’ is a nickname that Clinton has been known by.
The email thread mentions former White House chief strategist, Steven Bannon, in which Mark writes: ‘Ask him if Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba?’.
But it does not clarify who he meant, and the context remains unclear.
Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, told The Advocate about the 2018 exchange: ‘That’s a very, very interesting email. I read it as well.’
He stressed that the committee lacks sufficient information to accurately interpret the message.
‘We are not sure, actually, what that’s in reference to, obviously. So is it a joke? Is it not? Who’s he talking about? We do not know,’ he said.
‘And which is why it’s important for people to know that these emails that we got, they’re from the Epstein estate, right?
‘We got these emails through a subpoena through the estate, and it pales in comparison to what the Department of Justice has to get us as a committee.’
What are people saying on social media?
Online sleuths shared their thoughts on X, with many referencing ‘Bubba’ as a well-used nickname for Clinton.
One user wrote: ‘Wait, what? What is happening here? My understanding is the reference to ‘Bubba’ is Bill Clinton? This is a lot to digest.’
While another user said: ‘Jeffrey Epstein asked his brother, Mark Epstein, whether Putin has photos of Trump blowing ‘Bubba,’ which is Bill Clinton’s nickname.’
Plenty of social media users have shared a screenshot of the email, with one user writing: ‘Making more sense why Trump doesn’t want the files released. This email is woah… Bubba is Bill Clinton.’
Some users appear confident that Bubba refers to Clinton, as one user wrote: ‘And Epstein’s brother in an email is inferring that Putin has photos of Trump blowing Bubba. Bubba was Clinton’s nickname.’
While another simply wrote: ‘Bill Clinton’s nickname is Bubba. Am I late to this?’.
Bubba can be used as a term of endearment for a boy or man to mean ‘older brother’, according to the Cambridge Dictionary.
However, it can be derogatory for ‘a white man from the southern US, especially one who is thought to be of low social class or badly educated’, the dictionary said.
The term is often used in southern US states, which could be in reference to Clinton’s former status as governor of Arkansas.
What moment is the email referring to?
A screenshot from the email between Esptein and his brother, Mark, has been widely shared on social media after the more than 20,000-page archive became publicly available.
The email thread starts with Mark asking Jeffrey about his health condition.
The disgraced financier replies: ‘All good. Bannon with me,’ which refers to Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist under Trump’s administration.
In response, Mark writes: ‘Ask him if Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba?’.
The term has caused a stir on social media, leading to hundreds of posts claiming Bubba refers to Clinton.
What has Trump said about Bill Clinton in the past?
In a Truth Social post shared on Friday, Trump described the recent emails as a ‘hoax’ and named Clinton as being connected with Epstein.
Trump has ordered the US justice department to launch an investigation into Epstein’s links with Clinton and banks.
In his post, the president said he would be asking Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Department of Justice and the FBI to look into Epstein’s ‘involvement and relationship’ with Clinton and others, to ‘determine what was going on with them, and him’.
Following his impeachment in 2019, Trump gleefully showed visitors to the White House the exact spot where Monica Lewinsky gave Bill Clinton a blowjob.
The US president was said to be so nonchalant about his own impeachment that he jokingly showed off areas of the Oval Office study that triggered the last one.
