Who was Tiktoker Sania Khan?

Sania Khan was a Pakistani Amercian woman, who was murdered by her ex husband Raheel Ahmad.

She was born in 1993 in Chattanooga, Tennesse.

Her parents are Hader Farooq Khan and Shazia Khan.

Sania majored in psychology and women’s studies at the University of Tennesee-Chattanooga.

In June 2021 she married Raheel Ahmad after five years of dating and moved to Chicago to be with him.

She worked as a photographer and specialized in weddings, maternity shoots and baby showers.

Raheel Ahmad was the ex husband of Sania Khan.

He shot his ex wife on July 18, 2022 before killing himself when police arrived.

Raheel had mental health issues and could not handle the divorce.

What happened to Sania Khan?

Sania Khan was shot by her ex husband on July 18, 2022 in her apartment in Chicago and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police rushed to Sania’s Khan apartment after Raheel’s family reported him missing in Atlanta, Georgia.

After entering the flat, they found Sania unresponsive near the door with a gunshot wound to the back of the head and dried blood on her face.

Raheel was found in the bedroom with a 9mm Glock handgun and a suicide note near him.

Sania became well known on TikTok for sharing her experiences of divorcing her husband Raheel Ahmad.

She also mentioned online how divorce and domestic violence are taboo topics in the South Asian community and how her own family was not okay with her decisions.

At the time of her death, Sania had 20.000 followers on the platform.

In one of her videos she said: “The first few months of any divorce journey is the darkest.

“It’s full of anxiety, sleepless nights, wondering if you’re doing the right thing.

“You are not a failure because your marriage did not work out.

“Be gentle with your heart during this stage.”

A childhood friend told the BBC in 2022: “They had a fabulous, big, fat Pakistani wedding.

“But the marriage was built on a foundation of lies and manipulation.”

Sania told her friend in December 2021 that she felt unsafe in her marriage and filed for a divorce.

While Sania stayed in Chicago, Raheel needed to move states due to a restraining order against him.

The final divorce hearing was suppose to be in August 2022.

Raheel killed her three days before she was set to move back to her hometown in Tennessee to her new life.

Her friend Grant wrote on Facebook: “You were stepping into the next chapter of your life when you left us, and I hope that wherever you are this next chapter brings you the happiness and success you were always wanting.”
