Wine Of The Week: Belle Glos 25th Anniversary Edition

Your first encounter with winemaker Joe Wagner might have been on TikTok, where he has spent the last four years going ultra viral by dipping wine bottles into melting wax. It was an ASMR-style win for the brand but, beyond his side gig as a social media star, Wagner does make very good wine. Understandable, because he’s the fifth generation in his family to make fine California wine. His father, Chuck Wagner, went on to found Caymus and Joe grew up in the winery, learning the ins and the outs of the industry. In 2001, he went on to open Belle Glos.
To celebrate a quarter-century, he recently released his 25th Anniversary Pinot Noir, which traces the last few decades of Belle Glos’ journey. Pinot Noir fruit is picked from three different California counties, each chosen for its own distinct characteristics then blended together to make a wine with Belle Glos’ unmistakably boldness (and, Wagner’s now-signature wax topping).$55
