A man allegedly plunged a steak knife into a woman, killing her, before turning the weapon on himself leaving him seriously hurt late Tuesday in a South Lawndale neighborhood apartment, according to police.
No charges have been announced for the 59-year-old man, who was arrested and remained hospitalized, according to a police report.
Officers responded to a call of a person stabbed around 11:35 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Christiana Avenue and found the two suffering from stab wounds, Chicago police said.
The woman, whose age wasn’t immediately known, suffered multiple puncture wounds to her body and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A 59-year-old man was also stabbed multiple times in the body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was in serious condition, officials said.
At least one steak knife was recovered at the scene and according to the report, the 59-year-old man allegedly attacked the woman before stabbing himself.
Area 4 detectives were investigating.
