Woman who warned BBC bosses about Huw Edwards three years ago glad to have ‘closure’ after complaint revealed

A WOMAN who warned BBC bosses about Huw Edwards three years ago says she is glad to have “closure” after her complaint was revealed.

Her grievance, in May 2021, led to Beeb bosses ticking off Edwards — who quit the BBC on Monday after “medical advice” — over his online conduct.

We told last July of claims the ex-News at Ten presenter had paid £35,000 to a teenager who had sent him sexual images.

Star presenter Edwards, 62, has left the BBC without a pay-off after a 40-year career.

The corporation launched an internal investigation last year.

The woman’s complaint to the Beeb was revealed yesterday by The Sunday Times, which had seen a confidential BBC report.

The complainant, in her late 40s and from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, got in touch with bosses after exchanging messages with Edwards, it was reported.

And yesterday, she said: “I’m happy to now get closure and be able to finally move on.”

She is understood to have urged BBC bosses to get their presenter to cease contact when she first made a complaint.

A summary of the findings reportedly said the corporation “spoke to Huw about his actions and his social media use” and that contact would halt.

But messages are said to have continued and the woman made a second complaint in January 2022.

When we revealed the allegations, she is said to have spoken to the BBC a third time.
