$55 Million Dolphins Star Linked to 49ers After Fred Warner, Other Injuries

Sitting at 2-6 and things not looking like they’ll get any better anytime soon, the Miami Dolphins will likely have to move on for multiple players at the trade deadline. It remains uncertain who the Dolphins want to move on from, as players like Bradley Chubb could be perfect fits for contending teams.

Among the teams that make the most sense, the San Francisco 49ers must be at the top of that list. After losing at Fred Warner and Nick Bosa to season-ending injuries and other players currently dealing with injuries, the Dolphins trading with the 49ers could bring them back a decent return.

When examining that, CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin linked the two sides to a deal at the deadline.

“Miami paid a big price to land Chubb via trade a few years ago, and the former Denver Broncos star leads the club in sacks. But the Dolphins are seemingly on the verge of a total overhaul as their 2025 campaign goes down the drain. Despite going on 30, Chubb could still make a sizable impact as an edge rushing rental, perhaps in the mold of Von Miller for the 2021 Rams,” he wrote.

Bradley Chubb to the 49ers Makes Sense

If there’s one team around the NFL that Chubb makes sense for, it continues to be the San Francisco 49ers. That doesn’t mean the 49ers will want to move on from a decent haul in a deal with the Miami Dolphins, but on the surface, Chubb is the easiest player to go after.

Some consider the 49ers the No. 1 spot, including Last Word on Sports’ David Latham, who noted all the injuries the 49ers have dealt with throughout the year.

“Despite suffering a ridiculous number of injuries, the San Francisco 49ers simply refuse to lose football games. Star players like Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, and Brock Purdy have all missed extensive time to injury, yet this team is still 5-2 entering Week 8. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is good enough to keep winning regular season games with subpar talent, but he’ll need true game changers to win games in January and February.

“Everyone knows the 49ers are desperately shopping for edge defenders, and Bradley Chubb might be the best one on the trade market. With Trey Hendrickson likely unavailable following Cincinnati’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chubb could be this team’s best shot at replacing Nick Bosa,” he wrote.

Could Jaelan Phillips Be an Option for the 49ers?

If the Miami Dolphins don’t move on from Chubb, another name that could make sense for the San Francisco 49ers is Jaelan Phillips.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Phillips and Chubb have circulated in trade rumors, but the teams he’s spoken with believe that Phillips has more value.

If the Dolphins decide to go the value route, moving on from Phillips would make sense. However, moving both players should still be the top priority given how poorly they’ve played. Fowler also mentioned them as a fit for Philips if that happens.

“Phillips and teammate Bradley Chubb have circulated in trade rumors. Multiple teams I spoke with believe that Phillips would hold more value than Chubb due to upside. A string of injuries stalled his rising star status, but he’s working his way back,” he wrote.
