Manchester United are exploring a deal to sign Barcelona star Alejandro Balde with the full-back previously suggesting he would be open to a move to Old Trafford.

United are nearing the end of their midfield rebuild with a talks progressing over a deal to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton for £65million. Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans were recruited in July to give Michael Carrick fresh options in the middle of the park.

A left-back is also on their shopping list before the summer transfer window closes. Newcastle United star Lewis Hall is their top target but the Magpies have no intention of selling one of their remaining prized assets after a summer of major upheaval at St James Park.

United are now looking into a deal to sign 22-year-old Balde, holding talks with his agent Jorge Mendes on Thursday.
