Arsenal are considering a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer, but they are not alone, with Manchester United also contemplating a bid.

The 23-year-old has been out of action since February due to a serious knee injury, but there remains a chance that he could feature before the end of the season.

With nine England caps to his name, Guehi looked very likely to be in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024 this summer and if he can prove his fitness in time then he could still make it.

The defender’s performances for the Eagles and the Three Lions have caught the attention of bigger clubs and with two years left on his contract, Palace will likely be tempted to cash in on him this summer.

Manchester United have long been linked with Guehi, with former club Chelsea and Liverpool also touted as possible destinations for him.

The Telegraph report that Arsenal have now joined the race for his signature this summer, making it a seriously heavyweight scrap to sign the central defender.

The report states that Guehi is likely to cost ‘more than £55m’ and Chelsea have the right to match any bids for him as part of the deal that took him from Stamford Bridge to Selhurst Park in 2021.

On Guehi’s recovery, Palace manager Olver Glasner suggested he could be back in full training this week and may be in the squad to host Manchester United on 6 May.

‘He did parts of the sessions this week, but our sessions are 35 minutes. When we play Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday, it is just recovery sessions,’ Glasner said last Wednesday.

‘We expect him (fully) back with the team next week and then let’s see how he feels. We don’t want to risk anything but it can be that he is in the squad against Man United. Let’s see.

‘We want him to play minutes in this season but always the health of the player is most important. We never risk anything.’
