Besiktas have launched a bid to sign Arsenal star Leandro Trossard with the Gunners indicating they are prepared to sell the winger.

The English transfer window slammed shut on Monday evening but clubs in the Turkish Super Lig are free to continue doing business until 12 September.

Trossard has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer following major additions to Mikel Arteta’s attack.

He was thought to be in talks with Fenerbahce but talk of a move faded after agreed a new deal at the Emirates – one that secured him a pay rise but did not change the length of his existing deal.

Reports in Turkey now claim Besiktas are pushing hard to sign the Belgium international having made a €22million (£19m) offer.

Sozcu report Arsenal are prepared to cash in on the player with Besiktas awaiting their next move.

Trossard has spent recent seasons battling Gabriel Martinelli for the left wing role, starting 28 Premier League matches last season with a very respectable return of eight goals and eight assists.

But with the summer arrivals of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze and the emergence of 15-year-old sensation Max Dowman, competition for places is even more intense.

Trossard has managed just 37 minutes of game time this season, sitting out as an unused substitute against Manchester United and Liverpool having come off the bench in the second-half against Leeds United.

His current deal expires in 2027 with Arteta recently indicating he is keen for the 30-year-old to stay in north London.

‘That situation has been resolved in a really great way and I think he deserves recognition, and we are very happy to have him,’ Arteta said of Trossard’s new deal in late August.

He continued: ‘There might be speculation. The good players always have options to go.

‘Leo was very clear from the beginning that he wanted to go here, the club was very clear that they wanted Leo here, I was very clear that I wanted him here. At the end, good outcome.’
