FORMER Australia cricketer Michael Slater collapsed in court after being denied bail for allegedly breaking into his ex-partner’s house, beating her and threatening to kill her.
Slater, who scored 5,312 runs for Australia across 74 Test matches, is facing 19 charges relating to offences between December 5, 2023 and April 12 of this year.

He appeared at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was refused bail.
He then collapsed as Corrective Services staff led him back to his cell.
Slater was arrested on Saturday and has been under police watch ever since.
Among the charges include a series of domestic violence offences such as “unlawful stalking or intimidation, breaking into a dwelling with intent at night, common assault, assault occasioning bodily harm and choking or suffocation”.
Slater has also been charged with breaching bail and 10 counts of contravening a domestic violence order.
Police have accused him of physically abusing his ex, hitting and kicking her before he raised a vodka bottle above his head and threatened to kill her.
He is also alleged to have harassed his former partner with more than 300 texts since December.
Within the messages he allegedly called her an “escort”, “s**t” and “c**t”.
It is also claimed he wrote: “Get f**ked, you’re a fraud, I’m going to hang my skull at the front of your house. How does that f**king feel you c**t? You f**king killed me.”
Slater denies all allegations of violence against the accuser.
Slater, who played for Australia’s Test team between 1993 and 2004, was the leading run scorer in the 1994/95 Ashes series with 623.
Since retiring from cricket, he has been working as a TV pundit in Australia.
