Barcelona are interested in bringing in Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United, although his enormous salary is likely to be an issue.

Sancho’s future at Old Trafford remains in question after he was brought back into the fold by Erik ten Hag over the summer, but then left out of the squad on the opening day of the Premier League season.

The England international and the Red Devils boss appeared to have got over their spat from last season, which saw Sancho spend the second half of the campaign on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

However, not even being on the bench for the win over Fulham last Friday is not a good sign that Sancho really is back among the Dutchman’s plans.

On why the 24-year-old was not involved, Ten Hag said: ‘First of all we need squad depth.

‘There will be a long season and it will be survival of the fittest but I can only put 20 players in the squad and Jadon in the week had an ear infection. He was not 100 percent fit.’

Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have been linked with making a move for Sancho before the transfer window closes, while Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Spanish publication Sport report that the Catalan giants are not going to make a permanent transfer bid for the winger, but are interested in a loan move.

The problem is that Sancho is reportedly on around £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford and Barcelona would be asked to cover this salary in full for a loan move to be agreed.

Manchester United would rather sell the former Dortmund man but want at least €40m (£34m) for him after spending £73m on him just three years ago.

Despite their mammoth summer spending already this season, Chelsea may be the likeliest of the interested parties to make a permanent move for Sancho, with Manchester United feeling that a bid is likely from Stamford Bridge.
