Don’t look now, but the Chicago Bears just went to 4-2 with a win over the Saints on Sunday. They’re on the quietest four-game winning streak in the league — tied with the Patriots and Broncos for the longest active winning streak in the NFL. During this span, the Bears have beaten the Cowboys, Raiders, Commanders, and Saints.
But despite all that team success, it’s been an up and down season for second-year QB Caleb Williams. The No. 1 overall pick in 2024 out of USC, Williams has been overshadowed thus far in his professional career by QBs Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye, selected at Nos. 2 and 3 overall right after him, respectively.
Williams isn’t letting the outside noise rattle him, however. And his upside is still immense. In his second season, Williams has shown clear progression from his rookie year, growing alongside first-year HC Ben Johnson with the rest of the Chicago offense. The competition only gets tougher from here, but Williams is ready for the challenge.

Williams went 15 of 26 for 172 yards with an interception on Sunday, taking one sack. He also fumbled the ball twice, but the offense recovered both of them, and Williams got one of them back himself. He had this to say after the game in his press conference:
“Yeah, I think about it,” Williams said on the ways he can improve and be more consistent. “I threw an interception today, and [our] defense had four turnovers, four sacks. I threw an interception, I didn’t play well today. And then the offensive line pushes us through. D’Andre Swift and the backs pushed us through with 200-plus yards on the ground. And so it’s being able to find ways to win. It’s what we’ve been able to do. And we’re going to keep doing that.”
“But it’s also being able to find ways to come together, as one,” Williams continued. “That when the defense has a turnover, we go down and put seven on the board, not a field goal. You know, that accounts for me, that accounts for all of us on offense, that accounts for everything overall. And so it’s just being able to execute the plays that are being called, it’s being able to — when you have those moments for explosive plays, we deliver on them. I throw a good ball, or the offensive line does a good job of blocking up and the back’s hitting the hole and having explosive plays.”
“I think overall, there’s a lot of growth that can be had. It’s insane to think that and we’re 4-2, about how much growth we have left, myself included. Like I said before, we want to hit the ground running at the right time, where we’re all hitting on all cylinders. Defense is playing great, and I want to have their back, just like [they] have ours, and we’ll keep that rolling.”
The Chicago Bears Are Riding High on Four-Game Win Streak
It hasn’t always been pretty, but the Bears have won four in a row and have a chance to add to that total. They get the 1-5 Ravens next week, though Baltimore gets two-time MVP QB Lamar Jackson back for that game. Then they face the Bengals and Giants.
After that, the schedule stiffens somewhat, with games against the Vikings, Steelers, Eagles, and Packers on the horizon. But this Bears team is resilient, and Williams knows he needs to step up his play if Chicago is going to keep pace in the NFC playoff race.
